EMDR Intensives

feel better faster

what is an EMDR intensive?

TLDR: A whole lot of therapy over a few days to help you feel better.

The long version: An EMDR intensive happens over the course of a 1-5 days. It can help resolve the lasting impacts of traumatic incidents and shift relational patterns + behaviors in which you feel stuck. Clinical studies show that the intensive format for implementation of EMDR is equally effective to traditional weekly therapy, but results happen far more quickly.

An EMDR intensive allows you to target the issues you want to work on with greater focus, leading to faster results. With an EMDR intensive, unlike traditional therapy, you don’t have days or weeks between sessions. The condensed therapeutic experience of an intensive helps you hone in on and resolve specific problems.

you might benefit from an EMDR intensive if you…

  • feel like 50 minutes is, “never enough,” to get to the heart of the issue

  • feel perpetually stuck in the past

  • have recently experienced a traumatic incident(s)

  • have a history of a traumatic incident(s) that continues to impact you

  • want relief from harmful relational patterns that seem to stick around, despite your best efforts to change

  • have a busy schedule that makes it difficult to schedule weekly sessions

  • are engaged in another type of therapy (i.e. couples or family therapy) that would benefit from you resolving issues of your own

so how does this work?

EMDR intensives can be anywhere from half a day to five days- but don’t worry, we’ll decide how many days you will be doing before we start!

Here’s how it works: during our initial consultation we’ll decide together how long your intensive will be. This will be determined based off of the issues you want to work through and the goals you have. Half a day to two days is often sufficient for a single event trauma (i.e. a car crash), whereas three to five days is usually recommended for more complex issues (i.e. attachment-based traumas).

Your intensive day(s) will begin at 9:30am and will go until 4:30pm. We will take an hour break for lunch around 12 or 1pm, as well as snack + restroom breaks as needed throughout the day.
